New Education Policy – How learning Chemistry and Bakery at the same time helps industries

The schooling starts from the children crying to not go to school, wondering about playground swings and sudden math lectures at the age of just 3. It then picks its pace as we go further. Environmental Studies bids us a goodbye and a Dragon named Science steps in to change our lives forever. Now some of us turn out to be a curious, studious student who embraces the concept of “how to train your dragon” and learns to master Math and Science; but many of those artists, singers, dancers struggle to find a stick to control the fire-splitting dragon. For 12 years, it totally transforms the child, who loved to spend time with Crayons is now having a hard time solving Sine and Cos sums. All of us wanted to have something different. May be learn Chemistry and try baking a pancake, work on Statistics’ graphs and sing the high notes and whatnot.

The policy proposes to divide the same structure into cognitive developmental stages of the child- Childhood years, school years and secondary age. The 5-3-3-4 stage structure. How will this fare in the real Jungle world? Will the NEP stand during the floor test?

Let us discuss the important changes and how will it affect Corporate World and Job Market.

1. The policy emphasizes on a child’s mother-tongue so the understanding of basic subjects can be clearer. Though it puts weight on learning mother-tongue in a little advance manner, it only recommends the mother tongue as a medium of instruction and has not made it compulsory. The policy states that children learn and grasp non-trivial concepts more quickly in their mother tongue.

The stronger the foundation, stronger the building. Corporate World will welcome the students who are clear with the basic ideas and not mugged up. It will give a good push up to students from even rural areas, who are good with their technical skills but might have to leave the studies because of language constraints, to enhance in the culture of learning.

2. The preparation focuses on the holistic development of a child's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and well-being. That brings up children from all the aspects.

This kind of development will boost the core strength of student which plays a critical role in Corporate World such as – Leadership skills, team management skills, thinking clearly during the hardships, all round development to create a culture in company that is oriented in a purposed direction.

3. There will be no stiff separation between arts and sciences, between curricular and extra-curricular activities, and between vocational and academic streams. Students can select subjects of their choice across streams. This will ignite the research and creativity skills of students. It will not require students to kill their inner Hemmingway to be a Bill Gates.

This will have a very interesting impact on corporate culture. The NEP will shape the knowledge of core subject as well as develop their skills in their interested art. This will keep the passion and interest balanced, and ultimately improve the mental health of worker which will push the work productivity. So, learning chemistry and doing bakery will not only help you to bring pastries to your boss and light up their mood, but will also make you happy from inside so you can focus on solving the problem with lesser stress.

4. Vocational education will now start in schools from the 6th grade and will include internships.

This will make students learn what it will be like out of your comfort zone. The decisions students will make later will be clearer, productive, and very less colluded than we make now. This will impact hugely to the human resource of the country.

5. The undergraduate degree will now either be of a three- or four-year duration, with multiple exit options within this period. Colleges will have to give a certificate after completion of one year in any discipline or field, including vocational and professional areas; a diploma after two years of study; and a Bachelors' degree after a three-year program.

A great strategy to ignite the entrepreneurship spirit in students. Dropping from a grad college will not hamper you more as you will get some certificate for courses you have completed in the college. The corporate world will benefit as students with right skills can actually start working from early. It will also help HRM department of company to choose the students as per job requirement as even the graduation study will have steps of the degree.

How badly we want to learn Poem Writing and Modern Physics together, right? Well, we hope our next generation does, and excel.
